Well first off Happy New Year, and what a year that was! 2011 was certainly an exciting time in the field of search with a number of updates and progressive movements in the world of search as we know it.

2011 was a great year in more ways than one for start-up 'ShoeBox Design' founded by Chris Archer. At the end of 2011 Chris and Shoebox Design joined Carlisle digital agency Hydrant. This relationship will allow ShoeBox Design to focus on it's software for delivering efficient, clean and simple websites for local business.

Google has a secret algorithm that it uses to determine websites' rankings, but did you also know that Google loves all things Google and relevant to Google?

Are you sitting comfortably? Now cast your minds back to this time last year. In the UK it seemed like a winter wonderland, full of snow, however this brought the whole country to a stop. The complaints that arose due to the snow, the nation could not cope. With the downfall of many a high street shop, people were losing confidence in high street shopping and therefore turned their attentions to online.

Customer service is becoming more and more of an issue. Especially now, people are holding onto their hard earn cash and need serious convincing before parting with it. Although the saying "you get what you pay for" tends to hold power, this term is being used more loosely than ever. People are now using the internet to conduct their research on a company or product prior to purchase.

To those of you who have been in a deep sleep over the past five years, it will, no doubt, be painful to wake up to the reality that is the economic climate. It will make you want to jump right back into bed and have a further deep slumber for another five years in the hope that when do you wake up it was all a bad dream!
